In Loving Memory
It always hurts our hearts to lose the ones we love......
be they human or companion. This is a tribute to those
who have touched us....spent hours with us....
comforted us....were definately loved and most definately loved us.
May the grass be green,
the sun warm,
the breeze cool,
the water clear and cold.......
May you rest in peace my dear friends.

Rosie was humanely euthanized December 23rd, 2008 after a short fight with cancer. She was the epitome of what we all look for in our children's mounts. She "raised" my daughter, taking care of her as only a mother would do. She kept my young daughter out of trouble, was her best friend and her partner "in crime". She'd let that young girl crawl all over her, between her legs, braid everything and was so very tolerant of her attempts to saddle her when my daughter was just a little thing. Many days I'd find Rosie tacked up, waiting at the garage for Melita to return, reins on the ground, patiently watching the door for her owner to return from getting a "snack". I watched Rosie, single handedly fight off dogs to keep that little girl safe when I couldn't get to her fast enough, Rosie was a wonderful teacher, the most patient mare I've ever had my hands on, such a forgiving mare.
. She had the most wonderful low rumble she always greeted us with that I will always hear in my head. Rosie watched Melita grow into an adult and marry. I will never forget the call my daughter made to me when she had to "let go" of her girl. Rosie was 23 yrs old. She will ALWAYS be in our hearts. She leaves a daughter that Melita will train to fill her dam's shoes. RJ has a lot of filling to do!! Watch ClassyApril 1st, 1990 to October 18th, 2008 It has taken me some time to try to come up with the words to depict this mare. Wonderfully gentle, an amazing mother, she was such an impressive mare, we fondly called her "Maybelline", she had these neat under eye markings due to being frost bitten in Utah as a young girl. Her wonderful owners leased this mare to us, she was their "lifetime" mare. It's still a ponder what took her from us, no sign of colic, looked like she was bringing the yearlings up to the house and collapsed in her tracks. She was in foal to DJS Jacks Dancer and we were excited about what she might give us in 2009. It's hard to believe....still.....that this grand mare is gone. My grief, I'm sure, cannot be compared to Vicki, her human mom. She is sorely missed, she was an amazing gal.

Our little golden girl became "limpy" on her right rear at two weeks old, I shrugged it off to possibly being stepped on or kicked, when it did not improve by the next day, I brought her up, examined the leg, all seemed intact but it was noticibly swollen, I gave banamine and called the Vet out the next morning, we flushed the joint and assumed that would resolve the problem. The next day, she felt better and the swelling was down, I put her and her dam in a "dry lot" for sunshine and play time, the next day I did the same, went to bring them for the night and noticed slight dripping from her umbilical. Called the vet in a panic, he advised me of a course of action and said he'd be here the next morning. He arrived at 7AM, diagnosed her with joint ill from an umbilical that didn't completely close. The next three weeks brought many long hours spent doctoring on this little girl, many miles and hours spent "waiting our turn" to have her joints flushed as we watched her worsen and the infection spread through three of her legs. We didn't seem to gain any ground, it was a horrible roller coaster. We finally decided, due to the damage the infection had created in three joints, and the continued pain she experienced, to release her. She was humanely euthanized on the eve of June 3rd, 2008 with her dam standing by her while she lay in the green grass and bathed in the sun. She's free now and can jump and play like all foals should.
*Investigate throughly any foal that limps or is "soft" under the age of a month. Suspect everything and assume joint ill until proven otherwise and run, don't walk, to the Vet's office, timely detection would have saved this filly and she would have had a very speedy recovery and gone on to have a wonderful life. My Vet said this usually only happens once in a persons life and I would probably never experience this again. If any good is to come of this, maybe the loss of this filly might save someone else's foal in the future that reads this. I hope our loss is a lesson learned by many and they don't have to experience what we have been through the last three weeks not to mention what that beautiful little girl had to endure at such an early age.*
Okies Fidelis Leyte October 17th 1996 to Jan 26th, 2008
"Okie" was humanely euthanized on January 26th, 2008 after she became immobile due to a tumor growth in her right shoulder, we'd carried her where she needed to go for weeks but the pain became too much for her. We feel very
blessed to have had such an awesome "friend" to share part of our life with. She was an awesome friend and companion,
a wonderful guardian, she took such wonderful care of her
human's. We felt like we belonged to her, she is
so sadly missed.

April 30th, 2007 to November 14th, 2007
AHQ Dusty Eyed Jack was humanely euthanized on November 14th, 2007 after transport to the nearest veterinarian facility. I had just fed, somehow, and I'm still trying
to figure out how, Dusty got his right rear leg caught in the 10' bunk feeder, he drug it behind him about 20' until he finally broke free.
It took his leg to the bone. He had hopes for recovery but the veterinarian was unable to give Dusty enough narcotics to
make him comfortable. He was an awesome
colt, one that made your mouth water with a
loving disposition and a kind heart.
He will be missed.
Mitzi had been with us since she was a tiny pup. She was my best friend, a consoler, a confidant, a companion,
a true gem of a girl. She died in my arms on May the 26th unexpectedly from heart failure. This house is not the same, my heart is not the same.
I'm so very grateful she was a part of our lives.
She is and will be greatly missed.
Ima Smoky Black Jack was a 40.63% Two Eyed Jack Smoky Black stud colt. He had come to us last May at his dam's side. It was apparant there was something
wrong shortly after his arrival. He was taken to the best orthopedic center around here and was diagnosed
with a broken neck just behind the poll. He captured our hearts and we held out hope that he would improve. He would never carry a rider but we hoped we would make a breeding stallion. He took many naps in our laps and loved his massages! He was a gentle, sweet natured, very lovable little fellow. It became apparant that his quality of life was not going to improve and he was humanely freed
from his crippled body on May the 15th, 2007.
He is greatly missed.
